Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and creative Content Writer who can produce high-quality, engaging, and informative articles for Dusk News Pakistan. You will be responsible for writing news articles, feature pieces, analysis blogs, interviews, opinion columns, and other editorial content aligned with our editorial vision.
The ideal candidate is news-savvy, proactive, able to meet deadlines, and has a strong understanding of journalistic ethics.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and write clear, accurate, and well-structured articles on assigned topics (news, social issues, politics, environment, human rights, etc.)
• Cover trending national and international news with fresh angles, using reliable and credible sources.
• Conduct interviews (via phone, email, or in-person) and turn them into compelling stories.
• Adapt writing tone and style based on content type: news reporting, features, or opinion editorials.
• Collaborate with editors to ensure quality, factual accuracy, and consistency with Dusk’s editorial guidelines.
• Use SEO best practices in writing headlines, subheadings, and content to optimize article visibility.
• Fact-check information before publishing and cite credible sources appropriately.
• Stay updated with current affairs, political events, legal developments, cultural trends, and social justice issues.
• Suggest story ideas in editorial meetings and pitch innovative formats (infographics, short news explainers, etc.)
• Meet daily or weekly content quotas and deadlines as assigned by the editorial team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory if highly skilled).
• 1–3 years of professional writing experience in news, media, or digital publications. Fresh graduates with a strong portfolio are also encouraged to apply.
• Excellent command of English grammar, sentence structure, and AP or journalistic style writing.
• Strong research skills and the ability to digest complex information quickly.
• Understanding of SEO writing principles and digital content strategies.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with WordPress CMS (or willingness to learn quickly).
• Interest in human rights, politics, education, environment, and social impact topics.
• Commitment to journalistic integrity, neutrality, and fact-checking.

Preferred Skills (Bonus)

• Experience with multimedia storytelling (audio, video scripts, photo essays).
• Knowledge of Urdu to translate or interpret Urdu-language news into English (a plus).
• Basic skills in Canva or simple graphic creation tools for social media content.
• Familiarity with Google News and Discover optimization techniques.
