We are expanding our creative team and looking for a passionate Graphic Designer who can help us craft visually compelling graphics, illustrations, and layouts for news articles, social media, campaigns, and multimedia projects.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for design, a deep understanding of branding, and the ability to turn complex ideas into clear, attractive visuals. You will work closely with editors, writers, and the marketing team to ensure our visuals support and elevate Dusk’s journalistic storytelling and brand identity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create graphics for news articles, feature stories, infographics, and special reports.
  • Design social media posts, banners, and motion graphics for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Develop visual templates for editorial use (thumbnails, quote cards, news alerts, explainer posts).
  • Design marketing materials, such as email headers, event posters, promotional graphics, and brand campaigns.
  • Collaborate closely with writers, editors, and social media managers to brainstorm visual storytelling ideas.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all visuals while exploring creative, new design approaches for special projects.
  • Edit and retouch images for optimal web and social media performance.
  • Stay updated with the latest design trends in media, journalism, and social storytelling.
  • Prepare print-ready files if needed for physical publications or campaigns.
  • Assist with basic animation or video editing for social-first content (preferred but not mandatory).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Multimedia Arts, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of proven graphic design experience (experience in a media/news organization preferred).
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; After Effects is a plus).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of creative work, particularly for news, media, or storytelling.
  • Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, and color theory.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into simple, engaging visuals.
  • Familiarity with social media content standards (especially Facebook, Instagram, and X).
  • Creative thinker with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Experience with basic motion graphics or video editing is a plus (using tools like After Effects, Premiere Pro, or Canva Pro animations).
  • A genuine interest in current affairs, social issues, and journalism is a big bonus.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in a newsroom, media outlet, or digital publication.
  • Basic knowledge of UI/UX principles and familiarity with Figma or similar platforms.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-changing news cycles and prioritize work accordingly.
  • Knowledge of branding and ability to help evolve and expand Dusk’s visual identity.
