Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly creative, organized, and news-savvy Social Media Manager to build, manage, and grow Dusk’s social media presence across platforms. This role requires someone who can balance real-time news updates with longer-term engagement strategies, blending journalism, social storytelling, and audience development.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Publishing
- Develop, plan, and execute daily social media content (posts, reels, stories, polls, threads, etc.) across Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
- Write engaging, newsworthy captions and headlines in line with the Dusk editorial tone.
- Create simple graphics and short videos using tools like Canva, CapCut, or Adobe apps.
- Repurpose website articles into bite-sized, social-friendly formats.
Community Management
- Actively monitor, respond to, and moderate comments, DMs, and mentions to maintain a positive, professional community.
- Engage with readers, journalists, public figures, and partner pages to build brand visibility.
Growth & Analytics
- Monitor social media performance using analytics tools (native platform insights, Google Analytics, etc.).
- Prepare weekly/monthly reports highlighting growth, engagement, traffic referrals, and key wins.
- Recommend and execute growth tactics like collaborations, trending hashtags, contests, or AMAs (Ask Me Anything).
Strategy & Trends
- Develop and update a content calendar in collaboration with the editorial and marketing teams.
- Stay up-to-date with news cycles, pop culture, and digital trends to make Dusk’s social media timely and relevant.
- Identify viral moments and opportunities for Dusk to join conversations authentically.
Campaign Management
- Support special campaigns (e.g., elections, major events, social issues) with creative ideas and execution.
- Coordinate paid social ad campaigns if needed (basic knowledge is a plus).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of proven experience managing brand or news media social media accounts.
- Strong writing and copy-editing skills, particularly in news/media style.
- Experience with social media management tools like Buffer, Hootsuite, Later, or native platform schedulers.
- Familiarity with photo and video editing tools (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.).
- Solid understanding of platform-specific algorithms, especially Facebook, Instagram, and X (Twitter).
- A good eye for visuals, understanding how images, videos, and text perform differently on each platform.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience working in news media, digital publications, or a newsroom.
- Basic knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics.
- Experience with meme culture, reels, shorts, and viral formats.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, especially during breaking news events.
