We are looking for a talented Video Editor to join our team and help craft high-quality news segments, features, documentaries, and social media videos that resonate with our audience.

Job Overview

The Video Editor will be responsible for assembling recorded footage, applying artistic editing techniques, and creating finished, broadcast-worthy projects that accurately reflect Dusk’s brand voice and editorial standards. You will work closely with reporters, producers, and the social media team to deliver visual stories that captivate and inform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit raw footage into polished video packages for news, features, documentaries, and digital platforms.
  • Select the best shots, add appropriate transitions, graphics, effects, and subtitles where necessary.
  • Collaborate with journalists, producers, and creative teams to meet content objectives.
  • Ensure all edited content aligns with Dusk News Pakistan’s editorial guidelines and brand tone.
  • Add sound effects, background scores, and mix audio to enhance storytelling.
  • Create engaging short-form video content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube).
  • Manage project files, organize media assets, and maintain efficient workflows.
  • Stay updated on the latest video editing trends, techniques, and software upgrades.
  • Optimize videos for multiple formats, including web, mobile, and TV.
  • Maintain consistency across video projects while meeting tight deadlines.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a Video Editor (minimum 2–3 years preferred).
  • Proficiency with editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of motion graphics, color correction, and audio mixing.
  • Ability to tell a compelling story through visuals and sound.
  • Good understanding of pacing, framing, and visual impact in news storytelling.
  • Experience in editing short-form and long-form video content.
  • Familiarity with news editing styles and fast-paced production environments.
  • Strong attention to detail, creative mindset, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Basic camera operation knowledge is a plus.
  • A portfolio or reel showcasing previous video editing work is required.

Preferred Skills (Not Mandatory)

  • Experience with social media video optimization.
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Experience with animation and motion graphics design.
  • Knowledge of Urdu language is a plus.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Film Studies, Mass Communication, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in Video Editing, Motion Graphics, or Visual Storytelling will be an advantage.
